Instilled in Tracey is a deep belief in the power of being the change you want to see in the world. Whether volunteering at food banks, preparing meals for families in need, or engaging in civic leadership through public service, she has always believed in making a tangible impact.
However, like many, her early moments of engagement were occasional. It wasn’t until Tracey witnessed the profound personal and collective transformations that occur when communities commit to sustained change that her passion for this work truly ignited.
In 2012, she took a pivotal step forward, advocating for education reform as a Parent Leader at the Legislative Office Building. That experience revealed the developmental impact of leadership and led to her role as Co-Chair of Leadership and Development for a town committee.
After the COVID-19 pandemic, Tracey observed a stark reality: many nonprofits lacked the sustainability and resources to meet the growing needs of their communities. Even more, many struggled to attract and retain volunteers. In 2022, she was sworn in as Vice President of the Elm City Freddie Fixer Parade, a legacy deeply rooted in her family’s history. Inspired by the work of her great-uncle, Dr. Fred Smith, one of the parade’s founders, Tracey was reminded of the enduring power of community mobilization long before the age of social media. The parade’s success reflected a message that resonated deeply with people: unity, service, and pride.
As her engagement deepened, she began noticing inefficiencies within many nonprofit organizations. While their missions were noble, their internal systems often lacked the structure needed for long-term sustainability. Leveraging her corporate expertise, Tracey began applying business and HR principles to strengthen nonprofit foundations.
Her leadership as President of the Board of Directors for an educational nonprofit led to measurable transformation:
